David C. Thollander has been a licensed attorney since 1989 with an emphasis in commercial transactions, business litigation/representation and trademark prosecution/litigation. Mr. Thollander has litigation experience in both state and federal court which has encompassed retained defense counsel for several national insurance companies; prosecution and defense associated with trademark infringement; copyright infringement; theft of trade secrets; unfair competition; and business litigation.
Mr. Thollander received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1983. Following receipt of his BA degree, Mr. Thollander enlisted in the United States Army Reserve, as a Russian Voice Interceptor (98G-Russian) studying at the Defense Language Institute, Foreign Language Center, Monterey, California, and Goodfellow Air Force, Texas from 1984-86. Mr. Thollander is a graduate of the Defense Department Language Institute, Foreign Language Center serving honorably in the United States Army (Reserve) from 1984-1990. Following his discharge from active duty in 1986, Mr. Thollander attended DePaul University receiving his Juris Doctor degree in 1989. He is licensed to practice in the States of Illinois and Michigan, and also licensed to practice before the United States District Court, Northern District of Illinois, Eastern Division (general and trial bar), and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth and Seventh Circuits.
Mr. Thollander has either authored or co-authored reported decisions in the Illinois Appellate Courts, Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals as well as an amicus brief before the United States Supreme Court (Jaffee v. Redmond).
In addition to his labor and business representation, Mr. Thollander has been lead trademark trial counsel in both the prosecution and defense of numerous trademark and trade dress infringement actions.
